Shield is the per-school secure gateway. Devices running Aman-AI Guardian route their traffic through it; everything is inspected, filtered and scanned before reaching the internet. It activates automatically when you upgrade to Plus or Professional.
Tiers are presets. Inside the Core dashboard you can toggle individual features per school — buy Essentials and add just SafeSearch, or pick a custom mix. Tier shows as CUSTOM in that case.

On the school network, DNS filtering is at the resolver level. With Plus/Professional and the Guardian app, traffic is tunneled through Shield — bypassing means disabling the device-level VPN, which the school can detect and alert on.
